As we disassemble our synthetic Christmas trees and look towards the New Year, it's difficult not to be excited about the current state of liquid drum and bass. It's a time for new beginnings; in Fred V's case, 'Simple Beginnings.' See what I did there?
It's also a time for sales. Many of the major drum and bass labels are holding winter sales that seem to be generally in the range of 25% off much of the shop. Shogun, Hospital, Critical, RAM - check their stores out for some great deals before it's too late. I purchased a Hospital Yellow Crutches tee for 5 pounds and Technimatic's Desire Paths vinyl for 25% off. You should too!
This week's podcast, Liquidation 003, is a mix of my top 14 tunes of 2014, hearkening back to a post I did last week regarding the same topic. A little more dissonance in this one than previous episodes, but you can't beat the tracks. Hope you enjoy it!
Hospital's Advent Calendar has come to a close, culminating the end of a month's worth of free goodies. The last day brought the release of the Hospital Christmas Cracker 2014 EP, with new (free) tracks from Keeno, S.P.Y., Krakota, and Metrik. Hopefully you picked it up! Hospital also released their 2014 Christmas Podcast, with Tony Colman counting down both his top ten tunes of the year and those of his listeners.

Bachelors of Science have teased the new single off of their new album to be released with CODE in early 2015, 'Don't Hold Back.' A new BoS album will be a great way to start the new year.
Legendary label V Recordings have survived 10 years on the scene, and have released a 10 year compilation, LV:X - Ten Years of Liquid V, compiled by Bryan Gee. Really just a wonderful tracklist, featuring classic releases from the likes of Calibre, Nu:Tone, Utah Jazz, Submorphics, and other legends. Unfortunately there's no vinyl release, but you can grab the double CD or the digital here!
CX Digital has released a free EP from Khords + R381 amongst the slew of record label Christmas giveaways. Very moody and minimal. And free! Pick it up.

RAM has uploaded a new single from June Miller entitled 'Ups and Downs.' They're going to be releasing an EP with RAM in early 2015, and judging from this track, it will definitely be one to pick up.
Frankee has released a free track with RAM entitled 'Instinct.' This comes on the heels of his upcoming collaboration with Caan, entitled 'Deep Down,' that I posted about last week. Looking like it could be a big year for Frankee.
Liquicity also uploaded their 2014 Yearmix, mixed by Maduk. Lots of tasty tunes, check it out. Cool video, too.

UNKNOWN OF THE WEEK: SOUNDS OF LIFE (SOL)
This week's edition of unknown of the week has a look at an artist from down under - Sounds of Life, a.k.a. Sol. Sol has put out some wicked liquid stuff in the past few months, including this awesome collaboration with Amphix entitled 'Blend.' He also released a remix EP in late 2014 as a tribute to Nujabes, which you can check out here. To top it off, he's formed a collaborative artist collective called Paradime AU that showcases up-and-coming Australian electronic music talent. Paradime recently released their Artist Collective Volume I, featuring a whopping 43 tracks (all of which are free!). Check him out, you won't be disappointed!

TUNE OF THE WEEK: EMPEROR - SHE SAID [CRITICAL]
I figured that I'd need to share this tune at some point, so no point better to do it than now. Emperor's music sounds like nothing else in drum and bass; he's truly got a style of his own. Hard to believe this tune was released in 2013, because it's going to remain ahead of its time for a long while. That double bass is one of the nastiest things I have ever heard. Like, this nasty. Enjoy!
